Javier Solórzano

Javier Solórzano Casarin is a Director and Screenwriter – Film and Video, born in Mexico City in 1981. He studied Film and Video at Columbia College Chicago, worked as a co-director and co-editor in a 3-episode television program for TV UNAM (México’s Leading University Television Channel), and a series documentary about the history of Mexico in the Olympic Games. He has made six short films in 16mm and digital video, as director, screenwriter and cinematographer. In 2002, he directed and photographed a documentary short film, titled Smoke Wood, a film about the bread makers of the state of Veracruz. The film was screened in the south of Germany and in the city of Chicago. 


Javier has worked as an assistant director for several television commercials, with directors like Daniel Gruener, Pepe Hinojosa, David Rodriguez de la Mora and Gilberto Bonilla. For clients like: The Government of Mexico City, Domino’s Pizza, Maggi, Coppel and Losec A, among others. He directed and photographed a promotional video for the Museo del Estanquillo, one of the most important museums of Popular Art in Mexico City. He recently wrote and directed a short film titled Playing Grown Up, shot with a Red One camera. The documentary Elvira is his first feature film. The film had its world premiere at the Morelia Film Festival. It has had other exhibitions in film festivals and special showings in: MexicoCity, Acapulco, Zacatecas, Oaxaca, Cuernavaca, State of México, Veracruz; Buenos Aires (Argentina), Los Angeles (United States) and Nantes (France).
